|
September 26, 2003:
Cargo shipments through Fraser River Port totalled a healthy 17,030,943 tonnes at the end of
the 2nd quarter, with domestic cargo shipments reaching 14,450,011
tonnes and international shipments reaching 2,580,932 tonnes for the first half
of the year. Container shipments continued their rapid growth during the
second quarter, with year-to-date totals quadrupling last year’s 31,889 TEUs to
reach 120,314 TEUs handled between January and June. There were 396 deep-sea

time period in 2002. Volumes of the port’s other niche cargoes — cars, steel and
forest products — remained fairly steady for the reported period.
