New Pacific Carrier Service Announced

August 11, 2000 : On behalf of the Far Eastern Shipping Company (FESCO), FESCO Agencies NA Inc. are pleased to announce the introduction of an independent, direct, containerized service from Fraser River Port’s Fraser Surrey Docks to ports in New Zealand, East Coast Australia, and Tahiti. The service is offered by FESCO’s Australia North America Line (FANAL), which was started up seven years ago, serving Canada from Seattle, Washington.

According to Ken Murakami, Vice President of Canadian operations, service will commence on August 21, 2000, with the arrival of MV Yuriy Ostrovskiy. FANAL will call at Fraser Surrey Docks on a fortnightly basis, so the weekly, fixed day of the week service will be maintained through other ships calling at Seattle.

FANAL is the only direct service from Western Canada. It offers intermodal service for dry and reefer containers to and from all major cities in Canada.

The service marks FESCO’s return to Canada after a five-year absence. “We are delighted that FANAL chose to make their Canadian base at Fraser Surrey Docks,” said Ed Kargl, Fraser River Port’s Vice President of Corporate Development.
