Fraser River Port Grant Helps to Bridge Communities

July 18, 2000 : A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Monday, July 17 by Colony Farm Park Association, recipients of a $15,000 grant from the Fraser River Port Authority's Millennium Fund. The ceremony launched construction of a new footbridge at Colony Farm Regional Park. It was attended by Fraser River Port's Ed Kargl, as well as by representatives of other agencies who provided grants, including MP Lou Sekora and MLA Mike Farnsworth.

The bridge will connect sections of park on either side of the Coquitlam River. It will also link trails in the GVRD's Greenways trail system that run from New Westminster to Pitt Meadows. "We're thrilled to contribute to a project that increases public access to the river," said Ed Kargl, Vice President, Corporate Development. "This bridge is a legacy that generations of residents will be able to enjoy, which was one of the key criteria of the fund."
