| Ships Ahoy at FraserFest 2001! |
|
July 5, 2001: - Fraser River Port believes that, when it
comes to BCs mighty Fraser River, there are lots of things to celebrate! These
include the rivers service as a major transportation corridor for commerce and its
role in creating more than 6,000 local jobs. Festivals like FraserFest are a perfect
opportunity to learn more about the ships and industry of the working river. Thats
why Fraser River Port is pleased to announce its sponsorship of FraserFest 2001, July 13-15,
2001 at the Westminster Quay in New Westminster.
Join us at FraserFest 2001 for all kinds of family fun:
- Free Model Boat Building: Fraser River
Port will be
offering its free childrens boat-building workshops on Saturday and Sunday from 11am
to 3pm at its tent at the west end of the festival site. Every child that completes a
model boat will receive a certificate.
- Model Ships and Displays: Visitors to
Fraser River Ports tent will also find displays about the port and the ships of the river as well
as model ships courtesy of the Vancouver Maritime Museum.
- Paddlewheeler Tours of the Harbour: Board the MV
Native for a paddlewheeler tour of the harbour sponsored by Fraser River
Port. Tickets can
be bought during FraserFest with proceeds from the tours going to the Navy League Alumni
Scholarship Fund and the Vancouver Maritime Museums childrens education
programs.
- Photo Contest Display: Visitors can view photos
entered into the Ships of Fraser River Port photo contest at the Fraser River Discovery
