Fraser River Port Greets New Star On Her Maiden Voyage

June 8, 2000 : Today M.V. Star Inventana made Fraser Surrey Docks, Fraser River Port's general cargo terminal, the final discharge port on her maiden voyage. The cargo of steel, loaded at ports in Belgium and Norway arrived after stops in Mexico and the US West Coast.

This call at Fraser River Port by the "Star Inventana" was at the request of Star's steel products customer. Ed Kargl, vice-president for Corporate Development at Fraser River Port commented that: "Customers recognize the expertise we have built up for handling certain niche cargoes at the port. Our on-dock rail and spacious storage facilities make Fraser Surrey Docks an ideal terminal for steel." The total tonnage of cargo handled through Fraser River Port in 1999 was 25,606,428, of which 820,725 tonnes was steel.
