In accordance with section 14(1) (d) of the Canada Marine Act (CMA) and the letters patent of the Fraser River Port Authority, a Nominating Committee has been formed.

The port authority has four user categories:

• Coastal Shipping/Forestry
• General Commercial Users
• Deep Sea Shipping
• Major Business

The term of the Coastal Shipping/Forestry group’s appointee to the Board expires on April 30, 2000 and the Nominating Committee is now accepting nominations for the position of Director for the period May 1, 2000 to April 30, 2003.

Section 16 of the CMA provides details of those individuals who may not be directors of a port authority. In particular, section 16 (e) precludes an individual who is a director, officer or employee of a person who is a user of the port.
